Hellenic Front Youth festival

In a marvellous place and a fantastic atmosphere, the Hellenic Front Youth (N.E.M.) organized again this year its festival, with theme "Nation and Freedom: the enemies of Globalization". Over 700 people came to the festival, mostly young, to familiarize with the activities and the struggle of the Hellenic Front.

Again this year the festival covered the broader patriotic bloc, its organizations and periodicals. In our festival took part National Northern Epirus Youth (E.N.V.I.) and the Himara Union, Cypriot student associations and the "Sarisa" group from Katerini. Besides the periodicals "Athinaiki Protovoulia", "Kleinon Asti", "21st century", "Adouloti Mani", "Aporthiti Troia", "Desmos" from Larissa, "Endohora" from Alexandroupoli, and the "Pelasgos", "Nea Thesis" and "Eleftheri Skepsis" publishing houses.

The festival started with a very interesting discussion about the developments in the National Issues. The panel included Kostas Kiriakou, well-known human-rights activist from the "trial of 5" at Tirana, Stavros Karkaletsis, an expert in the Cyprus issue, and Phaedon Dimopoulos, member of the Hellenic Front Political Office. Panayotis Liakos was co-ordinating the discussion.

The speech of Ioannis Panayotakopoulos, head of the Hellenic Front Youth, followed. Panayotakopoulos talked about the contemporary challenges the Hellenic youth faces, unemployment, drugs, the State's lack of moral values and the role that the Hellenic Front Youth is called to take upon, ralling the youth in schools, universities and work-places.

The most important time in the festival was the awarding of personalities for their service to the Hellenic Nation, under sometimes tragic conditions. Makis Voridis, the Hellenic Front president, gave awards to Spiros Papageorgiou, E.O.K.A. member and loyal fighter of general Georgios Grivas - Digenis, editor today of "Orthodoxos Tipos", Kostas Kiriakou, eminent fighter of Northern Epirus Hellenism, Andreas Martinos, one of the most important Greek prisoners in Albania of Enver Xoxha. We also gave an award to the music group Terror X Crew for their service to modern Greek music (2 golden discs).

The significant speech of Makis Voridis, the Hellenic Front president, about the repercussions of Globalization on the Hellenic Nation followed.
