Severe lack of foreign policy direction

When Chancellor Bismarck was asked what were the main reasons behind Prussia’s victory over France in the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-71, he answered: "The German teachers, who instilled a sense national pride and conscience to the youth of Germany". Today most if not all admit there is a significant weakness in our nation's foreign policy, which has lead to a series of diplomatic defeats. Can our nation however, conduct a strong foreign policy when it cannot be maintained and supported by a strong economy, an effective education system and powerful armed forces?

What is Hellas’ image in these areas? Our economy produces virtually nothing, and our imports are six times greater than our exports, unemployment is rife, the middle class is being compromised, the public sector seething with corruption. With what means can we establish a coherent national foreign policy, when 40% of the state revenue (a result of re-distributing funds away from the private sector), goes to the repayment of stat debts and interests?

What kind of education system are we talking about? An education system in which Greek history is sacrificed on the altar of smoothing down our differences with our neighbors? All this at a time when leading figures of the far-Left are board members in the Teachers Union.

What education are we talking about when we translate the works of Papadiamandis into demotic Greek from katharevousa Greek, because today’s Greeks have trouble understanding katharevousa, as if it is a foreign language? At the same time modern Greek seats in universities abroad are in serious decline due to a lack of funding, since we can find funds for the cash-strapped and cumbersome state-run companies, but not for promoting Hellenic culture and civilization.

Finally there is a drastic reduction in the funding of our nations armed forces. Our demographic problem has seriously curtailed the supply of conscripts each year. The length of national service is used for the micro-political aims of the parties, rather than the nation. Under the new system of a "professional" army, the defense of our country has now become an occupation of a select few, rather than the duty of its people as a whole.

Under these circumstances its “normal” to thank the Americans for helping “settle” the Imia crisis, to “welcome” Turkish F-16s over Greek islands, such as Andros, to ignore the plight of the ethnic Greeks of Northern Epirus, and to dance zeibekiko with our Turkish “friends”.

“The political establishment in the name of the people has betrayed the nation”, is what Panayotis Kondyllis wrote in one of his books. Today the patriotic movement has a tough road ahead of it, a road full of hardships and obstacles. The formation of a powerful FRONT, of strength, unity and patriotism, a Front of National Opposition is the first step in standing up for the freedom and independence of the Hellenic nation and its people. In this battle for freedom and independence the Hellenic Patriots will once again be at the forefront.
